Year of the Horse{1}

This weekend I had the opportunity to spend some time at some stables out in Copeland with Yvonne and her pops. Yvonne grew up around horses and her pop trains rescue horses; usually “retired” “discarded” race horses that, more often than not, have been mistreated and are mistrustful of humans.

The last time I was around horses in this way was well over two decades ago at my Uncle Harvey’s farm in Calgary. It’s hard to really describe what it’s like to be with them if you but they really are beautiful, powerful and majestic creatures.

This is Fosse, hes my buddy.

I’m going to stop myself short of saying that it was a “life changing” experience at the risk of sounding over-dramatic, but I feel very fortunate and it was one of the best “new things” I’ve had the opportunity to do in some time and I’m greatly looking forward to actually riding next time we go out…
